Travel legally to Cuba with our group, which operates under the people-to-people license as well as the workshop license granted by the U.S. government. We provide you with all of the official credentials you will need for a worry-free experience coming and going.
Cuba, with its classic cars, sultry salsa, and incredible architecture, is an amazing place, and we are going to go deep both in the majestic but crumbling city of Havana and in the pristine countryside where tobacco is still cultivated using eighteenth-century technology. When you step into a world that has been frozen in time for decades, be prepared to be mesmerized and mystified at the same time. Everyone has seen the cars and the colorful facades, but those well-known hallmarks are just the tip of the iceberg we will explore during our eight-day people-to-people tour. Adventure Quencher has mapped out a one-of-a-kind itinerary that will help you feel – and photograph – the heartbeat of this legendary culture.

Itineraries
Saturday - Day 1
Arrive in Havana
We will coordinate itineraries and have a personal driver picking up members of our group as they arrive and shuttling them to Habana Vieja – otherwise known as Old Havana – where we will be staying. Our lodging is in a legendary local secret – an exquisite colonial mansion restored into a small inn. While you wait for others to arrive, lounge in the breathtaking original courtyard, have a drink in the inn’s quaint bar, or wander through a bit of Old Havana – the epicenter of Havana’s culture and your home for the next few days.
We will have a late dinner on this evening at a nearby paladar – which is a privately owned Cuban restaurant.
Sunday - Day 2
Havana’s Grand Plazas
After breakfast, we will spend the morning walking through some of Habana Vieja’s stunning streets and plazas with a local guide, who will share the fascinating details of Havana’s oldest section while we explore angles for capturing these street scenes in photographs. Towering cathedrals, cobblestone streets, and the brilliant hues of ornate landmarks will leave you absolutely breathless.
After lunch, we will head to a Havana artist zone where the live music with salsa dancing, art displays, and people-watching are unbeatable.
There will be some free time for wandering this afternoon before dinner. Dinner will be at one of Havana’s favorite paladars. After dinner, those who want to can come on Cynthya’s Mojito Tour – a walkabout that samples Cuban drinks at an assortment of Havana nightspots.
Monday - Day 3
Havana’s History
After breakfast, we will have a guided tour at the Museum of the Revolution, a stunning palace turned museum that offers a Cuban outlook on the revolution – including the United States’ role in those tumultuous days. Artifacts, dioramas, jaw-dropping architecture, and legions of transfixed visitors make this an interesting spot for shooting some photos while learning about our host country.
We will walk through Habana Vieja after our museum visit, capturing more street scenes until we arrive at our lunch spot – another paladar.
After lunch, a fleet of convertible classic cars will pick up our group and take us on a four-hour tour through the city. We will make numerous stops on this tour for photo opportunities at statues, parks, and a city overlook. A guide will be along to tell us stories about the sites and answer questions.
Dinner will be at another of Havana’s favorite paladars, and after dinner, the Mojito Tour continues.
Tuesday - Day 4
The Art of the Streets
After breakfast, we will hit the streets of Habana Vieja again, this time exploring the gritty truths of its less-touristed areas. Markets, street vendors, and faces add texture to this glimpse of the proud but challenged culture.
We will have lunch with a noted local artist who will talk about the changing times in Cuba and the renaissance of art there through these changes.
After lunch, group members can choose between a salsa lesson or some independent wander time.
Dinner will be at a paladar in Habana Vieja, after which we will catch some live music and sample more Cuban cocktails before turning in.
Wednesday - Day 5
Viñales Valley
This is our early day, as we will check out of our hotel and board private transportation to the countryside by 8 a.m. Our destination is the prehistoric-looking Viñales Valley, where we will tour a working tobacco farm, gawk at spectacular rock formations, and paddle an underground river.
Lunch and dinner will be in Viñales, and lodging will be in individual casa particulares – private Cuban homes.
Thursday - Day 6
High Style and the Art of the Mojito
Early risers can join Cynthya for a hike up the hills to photograph the valley in first light, when a mist often shrouds it until the suns rays burn it off.
After breakfast and a walk around the town, we will board our transportation to wind our way back to Havana. Along the way, we will have lunch on a farm with Cuban families and soak in some of Cuba’s dramatic rural scenery.
In Havana, we will check into our new lodging – a fantastic mansion sitting high on a hill overlooking Havana. Meticulously restored, it provides a luxurious glimpse of how moneyed Cubans lived once upon a time.
We will have happy hour on one of the mansions many terraces, where we will also have a mojito-making lesson from a local barman.
For dinner we will be transported to another of Havana’s spectacular paladars, after which we will head to an acclaimed Havana nightspot that mixes artist studios with lively indoor and outdoor bars and social spaces.
Friday - Day 7
Life and Death and Hemmingway
After breakfast, our first stop of the day will be to the home of Ernest Hemmingway, which is now a somewhat quirky museum memorializing his life. Then we will be transported to Latin America’s most beautiful cemetery, right in the center of Havana, for a tour and a chance to photograph some amazing crypts and tombstones.
We will have lunch in a paladar in Centro Habana, as well as wander on foot for a bit through urban neighborhoods that tourists seldom see.
We will also make our way to some of Hemmingway’s favorite haunts in Havana before heading to the Hotel Presidente – Cuba’s most legendary venue – for a happy hour cocktail and glimpse of the place where important people have convened for a century.
Dinner will be in one last dazzling paladar, where we will share our favorite photos and toast to a week well spent.
