I’m roaming Scandinavia with my parents, seeing family, tracing the paths of my dad’s ancestors and connecting with each other. Our days are filled with beautiful, incredible scenery, a mystifying language, and quite a bit of swearing at my Google Maps lady, and our nights are filled with my mom breaking new-fangled appliances by pushing too many buttons. Haha – love you, Donnie Gordon. But seriously, my Airbnb rating is going to go to hell.
I feel blessed to be on this trip with my parents, who I haven’t spent this much time with since I was a child, and I’m discovering all kinds of new things. I’m pretty sure today my dad stole someone else’s tickets for the tour we were on because I suddenly had them in my bag, and my mom hums AllTheTime, like all the freaking time. And she pushes all the buttons on things when she doesn’t get why they aren’t working, so I spend my evenings looking for manuals online. Hahaha. And they are funny people – really funny sometimes – and they really love each other, and they love me, and I am fortunate to have them in my life. This time is precious.
But my heart misses my family and friends who are at home and I am thinking of you. Between running around during the day and keeping up with my work in the evening, I haven’t had much time to go through the photos I’m taking. But here are a few that I grabbed – a handful from Stockholm and a bunch from the fjords and valleys in Norway, which were spectacular.
